Bacterial Acne
Mild to moderate acne can be treated with IPL (Intense Pulsed Light).
Acne occurs when an increased production of the skin's natural oil, sebum, blocks the follicle and is then unable to leave the skin. The growth of the bacteria (P. acnes) below the surface of the skin causes the sebaceous gland to become inflamed resulting in a blackhead or whitehead.
Intense Pulsed Light works by slowing down this overproduction of oil that leads to acne and by destroying the bacteria. IPL has been clinically proven to accelerate the healing process for acne.
One treatment weekly, the number of treatments (usually between 2 and 5) is dependent on the severity of the condition and results.
